Sugar apple

Atis or Annona squamosa is one of the easiest fruit trees to grow in a semi-arid tropical climates like northern Philippines. It is, however, a native of the Caribbean /West Indies & tropical Americas.

Trivia: Would you believe that the first atis in the Philippines had been imported by the Spanish Galleon trade?

Atis is Sugar-apple is high in energy, vitamin C, manganese, thiamine, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, B3 B5, B9, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium in fair quantities.

To propagate --- it is actually the old bats plying our yards that do the job. The seeds that fell from the fruits they loot grow during the rainy season. We transplant them in preferred (areas which are not flooded) perimeter area once they grow a foot high or higher.
